Jaffna fort is of the key highlight of the Sri Lankan
history in Jaffna and also one of the main tourist attractions witch
demonstrate the hindu-tamil culture and the dominance of the Portuguese, Dutch and English regimes.

According to the archaeological department of Sri Lanka this fort is built by the Portuguese in 1618 and used 1625 also this was further expanded by the Dutch and taken over by the British in 1795 and governed until the 1948.
This was used as government institutional building and as a
main military bases in Sri Lanka by the Portuguese, Dutch and British. Also the
30 year civil war in Sri Lanka this was captured by the LTTE in 1985 -1995 till
the Sri Lankan army to control through the Rivirasa operation.
The key highlight to this archaeological site is the star sharp rampart graded with the canal witch provide heavy security and its attraction.
The beautiful sunsets with the breezing winds this during
the evenings this locations make a perfect site to visit and relax if you are visiting
Jaffna.
